Newspaper Direct Press Display

The Newspaper Direct Press Display function on the Calgary Public Library site is one of my favorites. This service allows you to read newspapers from around the world on your PC or tablet. You will require a bit of scrolling and zooming if using small tablet.

To access the website point your browser to www.calgarypubliclibrary.com. Along the top of the webpage you will see this bar:

Click the E-library link. In the bottom left section of the next webpage you will see a menu as follows :

Click the Newspaper Direct Press Display link. Enter your Calgary Library card and pin numbers and click Sign In.

After you log in you will see a title bar with some icons across the top.

Choose the publication from the Select Title drop down and read any newspaper or publication you find in the list.

Simple as that. I LOVE this because you can read the newspaper every day for the cost of the CPL Card ($12.00/year). Even better that you can read it at home in your jammies drinking your morning beverage! It's also nice to be able to read your local papers while you are on vacation!

Dictionary.com defines Thrift as:
  1. Practising thrift or economical management; frugal a thrifty shopper.
  2. Thriving, prosperous or successful.
  3. Thriving physically; growing vigorously.
I like this definition and would like to think that I can apply it to my life. I am embarking into blogging to share great products and services available to all for very reasonable costs.

A few criteria I would like to set out. Any product or service must :
  • Be available to everyone while requiring no more than one hour of travel from Calgary.
  • Not require the use of a membership or coupon with the exception of government delivered service.
  • Be reasonably healthy. (No cheap junk food deals :))
  • Be available on a continuing basis.
I may need to tweak these criteria as I go.  I will also not limit myself to ideas that you need to leave your home to enjoy. Easy, healthy and time saving recipes and kitchen tips will not be off limits.

Please feel free to send me suggestions of ways to live a large life while endeavouring to save money for the bigger things in life.
